Packing Light, Traveling Far – How One Woman Manages Style on a Global Adventure

Packing Light, Traveling Far – How One Woman Manages Style on a Global Adventure

Shantelle is a mother of four girls, all of whom are nearly adults. She has spent most of her life dedicated to raising her children, but as they approach adulthood, she has decided it’s time for a change.

Shantelle has always had a love for travel and adventure, and she has always dreamed of exploring the world. So, she made the bold decision to sell everything she owns and embark on a journey around the globe.

One of the things that Shantelle loves most about her personal style is her collection of sunglasses. They are a key part of her signature look and she feels lost without them. However, with limited space for belongings while traveling, she has been struggling to find a way to keep her sunglasses organized and easily accessible. Shantelle knows that she can’t bring her entire collection with her on the road, but she also can’t imagine parting with any of her beloved shades.

As she prepares for her journey, Shantelle has been researching and experimenting with different ways to stay organized in small spaces. She has found some creative solutions, such as using a hanging organizer to store her sunglasses and other small accessories. She has also learned the importance of downsizing and only bringing the essentials with her on her travels. Although it may be difficult for her to leave some of her favorite sunglasses behind, Shantelle knows that the experiences and memories she will gain from traveling the world will be more valuable in the long run.

ASA 101 Test

ASA 101 Test

Just finished our ASA 101 test and I got a 97% three more test to do.

I learned how to sail (helmsman role) and turned the boat into a busy channel all by myself yesterday. Loving the stuff I am learning. The knots in the picture are called a cow hitch! Named a cows hitch because it lools like the face of a cow.

Much love and happy sailing!

Captain in the Making: Day 5

Captain in the Making: Day 5

I just finished my final test! This one was the hardest. Lots of navigation questions and calculations on distance equals time and speed.

My reward lunch was pb&j on a carb counter whole wheat wrap. No sugar added pb&j.

Today is our last day on the boat. We have worked our butts off. Its crazy to think I showed up six days ago to board a vessel with people I didn’t even know. I have lived every waking moment with these people for the last week and have really enjoyed it. We couldn’t be more different from each other but blended wonderfully!

Next steps, buy a boat! ⛵️And if anyone has a boat that’s 55’ or more and wants to help me get some boats hours…
I would greatly appreciate it!

Captain in the Making: Day 4

Captain in the Making: Day 4

This sailing course has been such a huge success so far. I have learned so much.

The real truth, I am exhausted! We are waking up early, sailing all day in the sun with no AC and we are literally a hot sticky mess.

If that isn’t enough, at night we hose off outside with a spray hose, try drying off as much as possible just to do our testing and eat.

Our boat has no AC (did I mention that) so after cooking we get the boat real nice and toasty before bedtime. As you can imagine it doesn’t make for the easiest night sleep.

So after all this hardwork and pushing my body to new limits, I will be one Salty Skipper!

Captain in the Making : Day 3

Yesterdays sail to Boca Chita Key. Yesterday I docked the boat myself and was the helsman apon anchoring overnight.

Today is our second test. ASA 103. I did some studying last night, after dinner. We still have ASA 104 and ASA 114 in front of us.

We had a beautiful hike on Biscayne Key. Got to see a light house and learn about the island. We had lunch at a little restaurant there. With AC so that was amazing!

Dinner was steak, seasoned and grilled by Don a fellow crew. James made the chicken and rice, I made the salad and salad dressing. Captain Dan did the clean up. We have really enjoyed our compatability on this boat. We have all been having fun.

We dont have AC so last night we slept on the front trampoline. Actually got a cool breeze all night. Was wonderful going to sleep under the stars and waking up to sunrise.
